We booked Davorka's place via booking.com and it all started wrong by her asking for the full amount in advance which is against booking.com's policy. When contacting her over the payment details she was extremely rude and told us the place was already booked anyway and she didn't have availabilities despite us having a confirmed booking. On a second contact over the phone she asked for prepayment of 30 % to be wired directly to her account and the rest to be paid at the spot upon arrival. She also mentioned that if we would decide to cancel she would refund the 30% to us. When confronted with booking.com's policy and her request of full payment in advance she started to insult me and telling that I should not come if I intended to be "edgy".....
Despite this bumpy start with Davorka we decided to stick with this reservation and wired 30% of the total amount to her private account. However, we did feel very uncomfortable with this host and finally decided to cancel our reservation after reading the other comments on this site.
We contacted booking.com in order to ask for the right thing to do as we wanted to avoid any further problem with Davorka and because we wanted to do things according to the book. Customer service at booking.com was very friendly and tried their best to help us out. Davorka refused to refund the 30%. We then contacted her directly again to find a solution. We even suggested a partial refund of 50 % of the pre-payment but even that she refused and became very rude on the phone. We intend to hand this over to a lawyer now as we are not accepting such a behavior.
We therefore strongly advise to avoid this host !
